Re: Should students be granted more freedom in using hand phones? (this title has little/no relevance to content)

SOME RANDOM COMMENTS WHICH ARE NOT FUNNY
Dear Mr. Hon, teachers and fellow Hwa Chongians,
Last Thursday I came across with an incident which drew me into some
reflections which I want to share with my fellow peers as well as
suggestions to Mr. Hon and the school.
At 10 am in the morning, my class and I left salt centre for our
history tutorial. To our surprise, there was a private car
parked right in front of the entrance of the salt centre, with its
bonnet already touching the security post. The car made it very
difficult for people to access the gates thus caused inconvenience
to the students. It was unclear if this was due to a traffic
accident or random parking by an irresponsible man.
HeLLO! DUN BE RETARDED LA! OBVIOUS THIS IS ACCIDENT. WHICH BLOODY *****
would want to park like that.
I thought that
the school should be alerted so that measures will be taken to
prevent people from parking cars randomly or avoid similar accident
from happening. However, just when I was about to take out my phone,
a staff of the school appeared and yelled at me to delete the photo
he thought I have taken.
AGAIN U ARE RETARDED. THOUGH SCHOOL RULES SAY PHONES ALLOWED, CANNOT USE
IN LESSON TIME WHAT.
He then took away my phone and checked
through it. He asked me to collect it from him afterwards. When I
did went to see him after class, another staff appeared and ordered
me to show him my galleries to ensure that no photo of the car was
taken, according to him, ¡°the school¡± does not want the photo to be
published.
PUBLISH WHERE? NEWSPAPER AH? HEADLINES: BOY SAW A IRRESPONSIBLE MAN PARKING
AND BLOCKING STUDENTS ROAD?
I was taken aback and felt frustrated by the command that
I have to show to a stranger my personal stuff, thus argued with
a few strong statements.
FYI: STRONG STATEMENTS MEAN SWEARING
I want to hereby apologize to the relevant staffs if any unhappiness
was aroused. After all they were just playing their role to guard
the Hwa Chong reputation. However, after consulting Mr. Hon about
this issue I was encouraged to write this PSB message to discuss
whether students should use the cameras in their phones to help
supervise unacceptable behaviors in the school compound. The
difficulty of examining such issues is that there is no distinct
watershed between obliged supervision to improve the school ethos
and the intrusions of privacy.
OH SO PRIVATE.
In my humble(SO HUMBLE) opinion, since the yardsticks of such issues could be
rather ambiguous, I suggest that relevant incidents to be treated in
a case-to-case(WAH LAO CSE STILL GRAMMAR ERROR: case-by-case) basis. I think that the intention of the particular
students taking the photo is the most important factor to be
examined. Some students take photos of indecent moments of teachers
and friends (OMG THIS IS SICK!)
without being permitted just for their own pleasure;
such behaviors are definitely not acceptable and should face severe
punishment. However, I think that students should be given the
rights to highlight some problems existing in our school or to
supervise our teachers and peers so that mistakes can be corrected
to create a more conducive environment in Hwa Chong through methods
such as taking photos as evidence for the school¡¯s reference. For an
example, if we are witnessing our friends being physically molested
by a male or female teacher or stuff( OR BEING GAY), we are obliged to take
necessary measures such as taking photos as evidence. And I think
the school should even encourage students for doing so. Thus after
reflection of my deed last Friday, I felt though I was rather unfair
to use such strong words on the teachers, my intention was not
wrong, and after consulting Mr. Hon my intention was approved by him
and he even said that he actually wanted to see the photos!(MR HON WANTS TO FIRE HIM)
I felt
deeply encouraged and became more confident(SO ENCOURAGING) to hereby appeal to the
school to allow more freedom to use modern technology(you think VGA camera very high tech is it?) to make our
school a better place.
After all I believe that Hwa Chong is an institution that is open
and democratic and certainly hope that school will take my case into
consideration and make amendments to the school regulations to
benefit the student body as well as to the school.
I¡¯m looking forward to my fellow Hwa Chong brothers¡¯ views upon this
issue, feel free to kindly leave your comments and suggestions in
the response box, let us keep on striving to fight for our rights
and welfare! :-)
(damn lukyean beat me to it)
